Burleigh County Acquisition Meeting (10-24-11) Burleigh County is currently considering one area for acquisitions through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Residents in the South Fork Junction area were notified of the meeting to determine voluntary participation in the program.

Proposed temorary and permanent flood protection projects
The Statement of Voluntary Participation form is due November 4, 2011. To obtain the fair market value (FMV) of your property, please contact Auditor Kevin Glatt or Al Vietmeier: 222-6718.
The following forms are due by November 28, 2011:- Affidavit (must be notarized, Auditor Glatt is a notary)
- Declaration and Release
- Eligibility and Policy Statement
- Hazardous Materials Property Survey
- Privacy Act Release

Burleigh County Acquisition Meeting (8-19-11) Burleigh County hosted an informational meeting to present general information about property acquisition to Burleigh County residents impacted by the 2011 flooding event. The meeting was held on August 19, 2011, 7:00-9:00 pm, at the Century High School Auditorium. Local, State, and Federal Officials were available at the meeting to answer questions.

Be assured that Burleigh County has not established any final acquisition areas. We have submitted a Notice of Interest with the ND Department of Emergency Services. No final plans will be made without meeting with you, the residents.

Why acquisition/buyout?
FEMA knows that it can be difficult for people to leave a precious home- even a home severely damaged by a disaster. Many communities and people have considered such an action, and they've rebuilt their lives and created new memories in safer places.
Since 1993, participating communities have purchased more than 20,000 properties as to prevent future damages. FEMA encourages all homeowners in affected communities to be sure they get all the information they need about buyouts so they can make the best decision for their families and their communities.
