- Buy fireworks from licensed sellers.
- Read and follow the instructions provided with the fireworks carefully. Pay attention to any recommended safety precautions or specific handling instructions.
- Only use fireworks outdoors in an open area, away from buildings, trees, dry grass, or other flammable materials
- Have a bucket of water, a hose, or a fire extinguisher readily available in case of emergencies. This can be used to extinguish small fires or to cool down fireworks that may not have ignited properly.
- Assign a responsible adult to supervise the fireworks activities. This person should be knowledgeable about fireworks safety and able to handle any potential problems that may arise.
- Make sure everyone is a safe distance away to avoid any injuries caused by debris or malfunctioning fireworks.
- It's also a good idea to wear long sleeves and pants, to minimize the risk of burns. Do not wear loose clothing while using fireworks.
- Never relight malfunctioning fireworks! If a firework fails to ignite or goes out, do not attempt to relight it. Wait for at least 20 minutes and then soak it in water before disposing of it properly.
- Properly dispose of fireworks: After the fireworks have been used, dispose of them properly. Soak them in water to ensure they are completely extinguished, and then dispose of them in a metal container.
Remember, safety should always be the top priority when it comes to fireworks. If you have any doubts or concerns about using fireworks safely, it's best to attend a professional fireworks display instead.
