How do I get my roads paved?
For questions on paving county roads, please contact the Highway Department. If you live in a rural subdivision, road paving is done through a special assessment procedure initiated by the residents of the subdivision. How do I get an address if I live out in rural Burleigh County?
If you live in one of the following townships - Croft, Glenview, Gibbs, Hay Creek, Menoken, Burnt Creek, Ft. Rice, Lincoln, Lyman, Phoenix or Riverview or your approach accesses a county road in any township in Burleigh County - contact the Highway Department. If you live in a township not listed above contact your township officials.
How long will it take to get my roads plowed?
Depending on the snow fall, it usually takes at least 3 days after a storm has subsided to cover all the roads. After major storms it can and has taken up to 5 to 7 days. Click here to read further information on what to expect when living in rural Burleigh County.
When will my roads be bladed?

How do I get a Road Approach Permit or 2nd Approach Permit?
All road approach permits and 2nd approach permits are issued by the Highway Department for approaches that access any county road or township road in one of the following townships: Croft, Glenview, Gibbs, Hay Creek, Menoken, Burnt Creek, Ft. Rice, Lincoln, Lyman, Phoenix or Riverview. All 2nd approach permits must be approved by the County Commission. Click here for further information on approach permits.
What are the Load Limits on roads in Burleigh County?
Maximum gross vehicle weight allowed on Burleigh County roads is 105,500 lbs with some roads restricted to 65,000 lbs. Seasonal load restrictions are generally placed on Burleigh County roads in early spring for 8 to 10 weeks. Click here to access further information on load limits.

How do I get a Utility, Right-of-way or Oversize/Overweight Permit?

What do I do if my mailbox is knocked over by road equipment?
If Burleigh County road equipment comes in direct contact with your mailbox or post and the mailbox and post were properly located and installed, the Highway Department will make repairs as needed. However, if your mailbox is damaged by snow coming off a snowplow or had direct contact with road equipment but the mailbox and post were not properly located and installed, the repairs are the responsibility of the owner of the mailbox.
Who is responsible for mowing the ditches?
Mowing of ditches is the responsibility of each landowner. Burleigh County performs at least one round of mowing the road shoulders on all county and township roads (per township agreement). The starting date for this mowing is no sooner than August 15 each year. All harvested hay shall be removed from County and Township road right-of-way by October 15 each year pursuant to Century Code 24-05-24.
